Why is an electric gate risk assessment important?

Gate Safe Risk Assessment | Gate Safe

Total compliance with the standards does not necessarily deliver a safe gate. The only way to achieve this is to undertake a risk assessment on the individual gate and mitigate the risks identified.

Don’t be lulled into thinking a CE marked gate means the gate has been signed off as ‘safe’. A gate is only ‘safe’ once it has been checked in situ and a full risk assessment has been undertaken which takes into consideration all the local factors. Each powered gate must be considered individually and holistically, employing suitable risk assessment tools and the appropriate knowledge / expertise to manage the risks on a case by case basis.

Prior to installation, we recommend a thorough risk assessment should be undertaken by a competent and suitably trained installer. Only by identifying the risks are you able to install the correct level of safety required to mitigate against any potential hazards. A risk assessment shows that you have considered all the risk factors and specific site conditions to deliver a safe and compliant gate.

If you are an owner of an electric gate and would like further information please call our team on 01303 840117 or email info@gate-safe.org

Alternatively Gate Safe offer site surveys, we can attend site to undertake a full risk assessment on the gate/barrier to assess its current safety and operating performance and provide a full risk assessment and written report summarising the findings from the survey. This will provide a clear explanation of the possible solutions recommended to upgrade the machinery to deliver a safe and compliant installation. Photographs are included to highlight any areas of concern.

Independent survey prices are based on distance travelled and number of gates to be surveyed. Please contact Gate Safe to discuss your requirements.
